FALL LEAGUE - CHALLENGE COURT | CO-ED

Come wrap up the outdoor season with a 4-weeks of Challenge Court at Lexington Athletic Complex! This co-ed league will run every Thursday in September.

Every Thursday in September, players will check-in and be randomly assigned a court. All courts will be numbered 1 -8,  and there are 4 positions per court. Those numbers are adjusted for the number of players that attend on a given evening. Court 1 is considered the "top" court, and the lowest numbered court (court 8), will be considered the "bottom" court. If the total number of players is outside of the multiple of 4, some players will be randomly assigned a "bench" position.

Once players are assigned to their courts (or bench), the coordinator will begin round one. All players will play regular pickleball for 8-minute rounds. On each league night, twelve 8-minute rounds will be played. The scoring will continue until the 8 minutes are completed, regardless of score. Teams will not stop at 11, or pause for any reason outside of equipment or medical necessities. When the round is over, the team with the most points will be declared the winner. If there is a tie when the time has expired, one more point will be played in the same order of service that it ended on, and rally scoring will take place; next point wins.

Once the winners have been declared, the winning team moves "up" to the next court in order (next court toward the top), and the losing team will move "down" to the next court (next court toward the bottom). If the winning team is on court 1, they will remain there, and the losing team on the "bottom" court will either take the bench, or remain on the bottom court if there is an even multiple of 4. After a round is played, and teams move up or down to their courts, they will split up and play with different partners. Two players cannot play together for 2 rounds in a row. Teams will have 1 minute to move up, down, and split in between rounds. Between rounds 6 and 7, players will have a 10 minute break.

After all 12 rounds have been completed, the courts are open for league members to participate in open play until the league time is over. Outside players are not permitted to play on the courts until the completion of the entire league is over (9:00pm).
